Contemplations Takeover w/ Sara DeLuca, Co-founder of Dovetail Workwear

By Katherine Donnelly on

Authentic design. Does such a thing exist anymore? Even in small innovative brands where we are not constrained by 7 million layers of management, broad appeal and salability often take priority over pushing the boundaries of design and innovation.

But every once in a blue moon, we get to work on something we love. Truly love. Just because we love it and are inspired to solve a problem. And we take the time to design and iterate directly with the end users, the very people that push the boundaries within their respective industries. Aspirational, awe inspiring, groundbreaking individuals who inspire us to make better products.

Our fearless patrol tester, Jenn, putting the prototypes through their paces on snow.

The Rock Creek Work Bib was that passion project. If this were math, you could break it down like this. Solve for the lack of women’s cold weather gear that requires both performance and function:

Equation:

[TREW’s best in class cold weather performance knowledge x Dovetail’s fit and focus on women’s utility] + 30 wear testers from Mt. Hood to Antarctica + 2 design teams that love a good challenge = 1 ultimate work bib made for women who push boundaries.

So I want to thank YOU, all you amazing women out there working in the cold, thanks for asking for better gear. Thanks for inspiring us to make this bib and giving us the chance to to build it from the ground up.

- Sara DeLuca, co-founder and VP of Product at Dovetail Workwear
