March is Brain Injury Awareness Month

By Katherine Donnelly on

Did you know that March is Brain Injury Awareness Month?

Being avid skiers and snowboarders, we're no strangers to talking about concussions and wearing helmets - but given that it's Brain Injury Awareness Month, I think it's high time we start talking about the more serious, long-term ramifications of hitting your head.

There are millions of people in America alone who sustain brain injuries every year, many of which are inflicted during partaking in action sports (no surprise there). And while the severity and symptoms can range far and wide within the term Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) there is no denying that a brain injury presents a world of challenges to those involved - not just for the injured, but for their family and loved ones as well.

$5 from every Neck Tube sale between March 22-31 will be donated to High Fives Foundation.

High Fives is an incredible organization that works to support those who have suffered from life-altering injuries (including but not limited to brain injuries), as well as working to prevent those injuries from occurring in the first place through educational programming. Their programs help to share resources, make connections, build hope, and lend financial support and grants when needed - and that's just scratching the surface of their impact on the outdoor communities.

For every purchase of one of our Neck Tubes between March 22-31, we will donate $5 to High Fives Foundation!

#HelmetsAreCool: Enter to win a new helmet, or nominate a loved one!

We're on a mission to get more people in helmets - and this month, three lucky humans will win a new helmet from POC and a jacket from yours truly. While a helmet can't guarantee that you'll be 100% safe from brain injuries, they will help to protect you from worst case scenarios and keep you on the snow for years to come.

Whether you need a new helmet for yourself, or you have a family member or friend that you know should be wearing a helmet, make sure to head over here to learn more and enter to win. All three winners will also ride away with a jacket of their choice from TREW, so it's really a no-brainer ;)
