PRIMO IN THE PRESS: '24/25 Gear Racks Up Praise

By Katherine Donnelly on

This isn't the first year that our PRIMO 3-layer collection has turned heads with customers, gear testers and publications alike - but it definitely is proving to be the biggest year in terms of online reviews, awards, and gear guide inclusions for our most durable, sustainable all-mountain collection.

We started to piece together separate Journal posts for each PRIMO press mention but quickly realized that it would be easier to just include all of them in one article...so here you go, all of our 2024/25 PRIMO press hits* in one place!

*Gear guides and product reviews are still coming out through this Fall, and we'll be keeping this article updated through the season as new mentions become live!*

BEST OF GEAR JUNKIE 2024/25

Orange Evergreen

Gear Junkie - The Best Snowboard Jackets of 2024-2025

"The Cosmic’s fabric is not only delightful to wear but is sustainable, too. This 3-layer textile is Bluesign-certified, GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified, and 100% recycled nylon. While this jacket might be a tad pricey or overbuilt for some riders, the design balances the demands of Mother Nature with style points and a high-quality, long-lasting build.

Poached Pear

For bell-to-bell days at the resort in blizzard conditions to long days on the snowmobile or in the skin track, the Trew Gear Cosmic PRIMO is our top choice.

Ultimately, the Stella PRIMO Jacket is wildly comfortable, fashion forward, and shielded very heavy, wet snowfall with no damp spots. Plus, the fabric dried quickly after full days on the slopes. This is one of our favorite all-around snowboard jackets, hands down."

BEST OF BLISTER BUYER'S GUIDE 2024/25

Dust Khaki

"The “PRIMO” version of Trew’s longstanding Cosmic Jacket (and Stella Jacket) quickly became an all-time favorite of ours, and for those who don’t love bibs, they also now offer a pant to match. Trew’s PRIMO outerwear features a burly but surprisingly supple 3-layer fabric that’s not as crinkly as many hardshells, but we’ve logged over 100 days in the Cosmic PRIMO without a tear, and it’s still keeping us dry during wet storms."

BLISTER BUYER'S GUIDE RECOMMENDED 2024/25

Dust Khaki

"The Eagle Pant is potentially even more impressive [than the Cosmic/Stella Jackets] on the durability front; one of our reviewers has managed to slash gaping holes in the cuffs of every ski pant he’s tested within 25-50 days, but his Eagle Pant is well past that mark and hasn’t developed any ski-brake-snagging holes. Both feature a generous number of pockets and a pretty loose, relaxed fit. The Eagle Pant PRIMO is basically a lower-cut version of the TREWth Bib PRIMO, so you can pick between the increased coverage of the bib or the better breathability of the pant. Either way, these are compelling resort-oriented shells if your priority list includes durability, weather protection, lots of features, and a roomy, freeride fit."

SKI MAGAZINE 'BEST JACKET FOR STORM SKIING'

Pinkberry

"The Cosmic is a classic style from Trew, but the company’s new Primo fabric takes it to the next level...It’s abrasion-resistant, has a hint of stretch, and proved to be both exceptionally waterproof and highly breathable. It’s also recycled and bluesign-approved...This is a great all-around jacket for storm-chasers and anyone else looking for a seriously weatherproof shell."

MEN'S HEALTH BEST 3L SNOWBOARD SHELL

Purps

"The Cosmic PRIMO pulls no punches. This is a no-compromises design that's built for all but the most technical mountain assaults. At just under $500, it's pricier than most we tested. But given its incredibly durable design with breathable, comfortable, and (most importantly) waterproof fabric, plus a long list of built-in features, we think it's a steal."

THE INERTIA'S BEST OF 2024/25

Pinkberry

"The Cosmic Primo jacket from Trew is a worthy piece of gear with 3L construction, oodles of pockets (five roomy outer pockets and two massive internal dump pockets), and fabric that is super durable but not stiff and fairly breathable. That’s a hard balance to get right, and while the material isn’t the stretchiest (it does have some stretch), the roomy fit makes for completely unrestricted motion (and easy layering). It’s hard to believe that it clocks in at under $500"

The Inertia - The Best Ski Jackets 2024/25

Coffee Blue

"This jacket is designed for those who want performance without compromising on style. The Trew Gear Stella Jacket PRIMO has a women’s-specific...relaxed fit that provides ample room for layering underneath, and the longer length ensures your bum stays covered even on the wettest lift days.

The Stella Jacket made us feel like we stood out in a crowd. The pocket variety offers a spot for everything you need...this jacket is stylish and prepared for unpredictable winter weather. The fabric is super durable and keeps us warm and dry."

The Inertia - The Best Women’s Snowboard Jackets of 2024/2025

Coffee

"The Trewth Bib Primo, lives up to the hype with plenty of pockets, great style, and very durable 20k/20k waterproof/breathable fabric made from recycled nylon...They’re described as a bib for both resort and backcountry, and while we’d agree they’re certainly up to both, the resort is where they truly thrive."

The Inertia - The Best Ski Bibs of 2024/2025

Dust Khaki

"The Trew Gear Chariot Bib PRIMO is our top pick for stylish outerwear. This bib combines premium, eco-friendly materials, and bomber construction. The best part is the fit and the length options. They have a women’s-specific ‘modern freeride fit’ which offers a relaxed style, room for layering underneath, and a figure-flattering silhouette."

The Inertia - The Best Women’s Snowboard Pants of 2024/2025

BEST MEN'S BIB WITH EXTENDED SIZING

Dust Khaki

"Trew is one of the few brands to offer short and tall sizing within the brand’s size menu. Bibs are available in either Short (30”), Regular (32.5”), and Tall (35”) inseam lengths in XS-XXL. Plus, there’s an extended size run of the Primo Bib featuring 3XL-5XL with short and tall options, so all types of riders can get the best match....We put these bibs through the gauntlet with many deep resort, backcountry, and snowmobile days and have always come back warm and dry. All this and more makes the Trewth Primo Bib one of the best snow bibs for guys."

Gear Junkie's Men's Best Ski Bibs of 2024/25

BEST SNOWBOARD BIB

Dark Evergreen

"The well-built Trewth Bib Primo (and women’s Chariot Primo) is our top pick of the season....Made with a dense and fully seam-taped fabric, this bib offered us a roomy fit while remaining highly durable no matter what the mountains deliver....Tack on a high-quality fit and finish (including a whopping 27 sizes) and generous side vents that run from knee to chest, and the Trewth Bib is the full package for both resort and backcountry riders."

Switchback Travel's Best Snowboard Pants of 2024/25

BEST WOMEN'S SNOWBOARD BIB

Coffee

"Trew Gear’s Chariot Primo is one of the most loved among women’s bibs and offers a ton of quality for the price. You get a thick 3-layer PNW Primo construction with built-in stretch, full seam taping with reinforcements, smooth-operating water-resistant zippers, and bomber coverage that keeps even the wettest of snow at bay. And Trew consistently nails the ladies’ fit, with six standard sizes and four plus sizes, all offered in short, regular, and tall inseams."
