Great touring shell with freeride fit

If you're looking for a shell you can leave on for high-output activities, and you want it cut like a ski jacket, not a rain/mountaineering jacket, this is the one. I'm 5'9" 135lb and the Small fits pretty well, with plenty of sleeve length, hem covering the bum, and a hood that fits a size Large ski helmet. Could have done with a little less room in the gut area, but I guess I have plenty of room for skins and midlayers now. The jacket packs up fairly small, which is handy when you adopt a "might as well bring it" packing strategy but your pack is chronically undersized.

Like other reviewers have said, it would be nice to have more fabric/room in the neck and chin. This part of the jacket feels pretty small with the hood zipped over a helmet, while the rest is pretty large.

    2 year review

Overall great jacket. I am 5'11 150lbs and wear a medium. Like other reviewed the size is a generous medium for layering but is still not bulky or boxy fit wise. I usually tour in just a long sleeve base layer underneath and am plenty warm. Skiing down I throw on a vest or puffy under my shell and am good to go. I have never gotten wet while wearing this jacket when the snow turns to rain or from rime at the resort covering my jacket. Pit zips are a savior as I do feel even for a shell this jacket stays pretty warm. Only gave 4 stars because I would prefer this jacket was more true to size and slightly smaller and also wish there was more fabric on the upper zip neck portion of the jacket as it's a bit uncomfortable all the way zipped up over my face when it's dumping or really windy. Love all the pockets and the colors are dope. Also an fyi I have a small touring helmet and my hood just fits over it fully zipped up and if you have a large dome with a big helmet I could see it not wanting to zip up all the way.

    Love it!

Best jacket to tour in, light, stretchy but still good looking modern freeride fit! So far holds up great on the uphill and tree bashing on the downhill. I'm 5'10'' and 150lb and got a medium and fits fairly well. A large would have worked too but arms might be a bit long.

    All killer no filler

Great jacket, 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a jacket that functions just as good on the way down as it does on the way up. For context, I own two of these and 4 cosmic jackets and truth be told I find myself grabbing the Capows more and more often from the shred closet. I run XS in both this jacket and the Cosmic - at 5’6” 125lbs the fit is pretty similar between the two, but I feel a bit more freedom in the waist on the Capow because of the lack of skirt which is nice for the uphill days. At my specs both jackets have ample from for a few layers (base, mid, puffy, and occasionally a second puffy for those sub zero windy days) without feeling restricted.

The most comfortable, most weather proof jacket

I love this jacket!! Have worn it a dozen days so far.. from hammering snow, stayed totally dry... to bluebirds, perfectly breathable. I love the material, it's super comfortable and light weight. I've actually started layering down a bit with it and still stay perfectly warm .. awesome jacket.

Side note, the customer service at Trew is amazing.
