INSULATION THAT LET'S YOU MOVE

The Kooshin Jacket’s revolutionary 3DeFX+ construction is so incredibly warm, comfortable and stretchy you’ll never want to take off, and it’s so breathable that you won’t have to. The Kooshin jacket’s ability to go from fast-paced outdoor activities to chilled-out comfort makes it the best kind of oxymoron, like a trail-savvy cattle dog with the temperament of a baby manatee.

This is portable warmth that allows you to be active.

IDEAL FOR: MOUNTAIN LIFE, CAMPING, CLIMBING, BIKING, WHEN YOU NEED TO STAY WARM WHILE BEING ACTIVE

3DeFX+ Insulation

The innovative secret behind the Kooshin’s performance is 3DeFX+: a three-layer sandwich of breathable, stretchy shell and liner fabrics, surrounding three-dimensional stretch synthetic insulation.

Fill
4-Way Stretch Polyester Insulation

3deFX+ is composed of four types of spiraling, hollow-core polyester yarns. This unique formulation provides lightweight, lofty insulation with incredible flexibility and stretchability.

Shell
Stretch Woven Nylon

The shell on our 3deFX+ garments is a durable stretch woven nylon with a ripstop weave. It's left open, without the cire finish or acrylic coating found on traditional insulated jackets. This keeps the fabric supple, silent, and stretchy. We add a C6 DWR finish to repel moisture.

Liner
Stretch Woven Nylon

The 3deFX+ liner fabric is a plain weave nylon with an incredibly soft and stretchy hand. The smooth finish glides over your baselayer or feels incredible next-to-skin. There is no quilting on the liner so it retains maxmimum strechability with your body's movements.

I got the black. It has just the right amount of steeze. I love the feel, the stretch is great; it is the right balance of fit without trying to nip in the waist. It seems a lot of brands think we care more about an hourglass figure than where our beacon fits nicely- thankfully not TREW. It beads water really well. Its a nice technical layer or a good coat for around town in the shoulder seasons. The only way to up the kooshin game would be some pit zips for the up track. Also, I had some trouble with the billing, but as always you can rely on TREW's great customer service to take care of you.

As the "big chill" hit (mid-December 2016), I received my Women's Kooshin jacket, size large. I was searching for an ultimate-warmth outdoor jacket suitable for my solo trips kayaking, bicycling, and backpacking. Going solo means limiting the margin of error for hypothermia. I was convinced to try the Kooshin by the reviewer who is Ski Patrol in Jackson, WY. (I also own a couple of Trew merino products.) The verdict? The Ski Patrol is right, and so are the specs on stretch and warmth on the Trew web site. This jacket is the lightest weight, ultra-warm jacket I could ever hope to find. I had to take off an under layer this morning outdoors because I was becoming too warm. My only suggestions for the future: please put in a two-way main zipper, and what about a detachable hood? The jacket had its first outdoor adventure today. It is superb in warmth, comfort, lightness, and stretchiness of the fabric. With this jacket, whether I am active outdoors or setting up camp, I will be adequately protected from the cold. Thank you!!!

This jacket is the best! I wear the Kooshin as an insulating layer while skiing in cold temps. It keeps me warm but it also breathes super well when I'm working hard. AND IT's STRETCHY! It's my go-to piece when I'm not debating between throwing on that extra layer or not...it never fails me! Fits great.

I just received my new kooshin in the mail three days ago and I cannot stop wearing it! I LOVE this piece. The insulation is fantastic for not only layering while skiing, using solo when skinning, and after skiing taking my shell off and even going fora quick run. I can see myself using this piece for a morning run, xc ski, skin, hike, spring piece solo, running errands, meeting a friend for a drink or layering for skiing. The warmth in such a light piece is great as well. On a 12deg ski day I wore a thin underlayer, the kooshin and a shell and was cozy. I am typically a small in tops and the fit is true to size. I also like that the arm cuffs are tight to shape down to your wrist and even have what seems to be a small elastic keeping it snug. This helps too with warmth when skiing. It is also super cute as a lifestyle piece just zooming around town. Hands down this is one of my favorite layering pieces so far from TREW.
