Toray Dermizax® NX
Waterproof / Breathable Membrane

After years of product testing in brutal conditions, we’ve found Toray membranes to be the most dependable and durable waterproof membranes available. They’re able to retain their weatherproof characteristics even when stretched, stressed, and abused, season after season and wash after wash. Dermizax® NX is the latest evolution of their flagship membrane, and it achieves groundbreaking levels of breathability and stretch without compromising weather protection.

  • 20,000 mm waterproof
  • 40,000 g/m2 breathable
80D 3L

80D 3L is the main body fabric in our freeride line. It’s a silent workhorse fabric with mechanical stretch and an uncharacteristically soft, supple hand for a rugged hardshell.

  • 80x70 denier plain weave nylon face
  • 20 denier smooth knit back
140D2X 3L

We use our 140D2X 3L fabric to reinforce high-wear areas in our freeride line. It’s an incredibly durable fabric that utilizes heavy-denier 2-ply yarns in both the warp and weft. What it gives up in softness, it returns exponentially in abrasion resistance and tear strength.

  • 70/2 X 140/2 denier plain weave nylon face
  • 20 denier smoother knit back
Durable Water Repellent Coating

A high-quality DWR coating enhances the performance of the fabric by protecting the surface from dirt and oils. We only use DWR coatings based on the environmentally friendlier short-chain (C6) fluorine compounds, which won't degrade in the environment into PFOS and PFOA.

Cuff Protection

We use Superfabric® to protect the cuff and instep of all of our FREERIDE bottoms. Superfabric® laminates ceramic armor plates to a high-denier nylon, creating lightweight, water-resistant, and extremely abrasion-resista

Rescue System

All of our hardshell garments now feature RECCO® reflectors, which will bounce back a directional signal to rescue teams equiped with RECCO® detectors. Reflectors are not a substitute for an avalanche beacon or good decision making.

Love my Tempest pants I ski with the every day and there my go to pants for all weather mountain comfort. They fit me perfect and I have been told I look hot in them grin My only issue is the zipper never stays up, wish there was a quick fix, can imagine skiing with out them.

I love these pants. Fit great, seem bullet proof but the inner cuff does not fit over a ski boot. I am 5'4" 120 pounds and I got the small. The waist is a little big but i find that with most ski pants. I was able to tighten them down with the velcro.

Customer Service quickly helped on the sizing recommendation. I love the fabric and the color- they seem bombproof. I am 5'5" and 155 lbs and the Large fit everywhere except they are about 3 in too long. Also, vents are inside the thighs, which is not the most comfortable. The main weird thing is that the interior cuff on the bottom of the pant doesn't fit over the top of my ski boots- which is extra odd because the exterior cuff is very generously sized...

These arrived the day after we had left for our ski trip to Banff. :(. But, I was still excited to try them when I arrived back home. Got them on sale. So my review is reflective of that, meaning I am a bit more willing to put up with issues that I wouldn't if I paid full price. Quality is fantastic, look is awesome, (wanted something that isn't being sported by everyone else, around here). I must, however, agree that the fit is a bit odd. I'm an 8/10, so I ordered the medium. Fits great everywhere, except the heiney. A lttle bit of a pull back there. But, I'm working on that area and am hopeful that they will bit comfortable, by next season. If not, I'm still wearing them, because I loves them !

Please note, this review is on the fit ONLY. The pants seem to be very well made and the material is pleasant to the touch. They seem like they would do exactly what they say they will. They did not work for me because I could not find the right fit. I'm 5'6", 140 lbs with an athletic build and thighs. I tried the pants in a M, according to customer service recommendation and size chart. The waist fit perfectly and I actually had to cinch it down, the crotch was in the right place but I had completely insufficient range of motion and found them super restrictive in the thighs. I tried on a L as well and they looked like I stole my boyfriend's pants. Waay to big, the crotch was too long, the waist too big BUT I barely had the motion in the legs that I wanted. My test is usually to pull my knees up when I'm standing and if that's comfortable, I got a winner. Sadly I had to return both sizes and will look for something else. As a side note, I have experienced this with many other women's snow pants and shells and thus am currently using a TNF Men's Small. I might circle back around and try a Trew guy's small because these shell pants otherwise seem to be exactly what I was looking for.
