          Good ski shell

~10 days of skiing so far with my newer model cosmic jacket. Don’t normally do reviews but I really like this one. I normally ski at a very cold eastern US mountain, the jacket itself isn’t particularly warm but works well with layers, particularly a light weight down puffy. I’ve recalibrate my layering but have been warm as long as I have been smart about the layers - including days where it never got above zero. I have been dry through a variety of conditions - including sleet and a day where 8 inches of snow fell over the course of skiing. I haven’t skied with it during a warm day - though I think it would

          work well.

In terms of sizing, I’m in an XL, boarder line L. The XL sleeves are long, and this has been good (and where the measurements said it would be). Plenty of room for layers. It comes up pretty high, I can duck my noise under it and not have much skin exposed. The only very small complaint is that there is enough extra fabric that it some times bunches out around my chest. The extra space for layers is well worth the trade off for what I regularly ski.

The zippers are good, the pockets are big and useful, the hood works for me and my helmet (though hardly use it).

I like it enough to recommend it to friends and when I need to replace my snow pants (this spring or next), I’ll look at Trew first.

          The perfect freeride 50/50 jacket

The Primo kit looks rad, it’s versatile, and it rides great. I’ve booted long couloirs without running too hot, and toured >10 miles without getting sweaty or cold. Vents dump heat easily, and the matching bibs are reinforced around the ankle. The only bibs that have held up to my occasionally clumsy crampon work. Can’t think of a better suit to hurl myself downhill in.

I Look, Goood in this Jacket

My Favorite Technical Jacket that fits my Sasquatch build! I can layer up on the cold blowing days or just rock a simple base layer and the jacket out performs any other coat I've used in the 39 years of Snowboarding. I teach at Alpine West Ski School on Snoqualmie Pass, WA. and im thrown every act of weather from Heavy snow to Cascade Concrete! I needed this jacket and all you Sasquatch build people, you do too!

          Awesome Again!

This is my 7th Trew Gear jacket and my 4th Cosmic. I keep buying them for a reason. Now if it would just snow some more this winter so I could go throw myself into some storm riding (which is where these jackets are the best!) I would be a super happy 5 stars.

          Recommend over arcterks

I bought the Arc’teryx Sabre SV in a Medium and it fit like an XL. For $900 it felt like a trash bag, which is crazy coming from a company with thousands of employees.

After my buddy got a Primo, I was like ok, that’s sick. I ordered mine based on the models on the website and went with a Medium, hoping it wouldn’t be huge like the Sabre. It fit perfect. (If you like a tighter fit, you could potentially size down.) (I'm 5' 9" - 160lbs)

I’ve worn it a couple times already, but haven’t had a ton of time in it yet because winter 2026 hasn’t really warranted a jacket this thick. The few days I did wear it though, it worked perfectly.

The front pockets are massive. You could fit a Costco rotisserie chicken in there (or your skins, IG). I got the purple/blue colorway and it’s flippin sick.

Trew came to Bozeman, MT to do a ski film comp, which is what initially put them on my radar. It showed they actually care about the sport and the people in it. I’m still blown away by the quality a small team like Trew can deliver compared to streetwear brands pretending to sell outdoor gear (Arc’teryx).
