I’ve been rocking Trew since the original orange cosmic and purple eagle pants, and these newest bibs in toffee and green jacket look sick. This is my third set of trewth bibs, and somewhere along the way they decided the best way to save money on material was to not make long enough in the bib straps to keep me from being laughed out of an old folks home on bingo night for the height of my waist line. I bought XXL talls with the dream of not splitting my boys regularly, I did on my old pair. I complained last time, and complaining again probably for the last time. I’m 6’4”. Material is bomber, rest of the fit is sweet. Just wish I could ski with my bib straps on in comfort without getting a wedgie. Loading... The quality of the fabric, seam tape construction, and overall feel seems to be well built. Fit wise is decent, a touch more room in the chest for layering and little less bagginess in the legs would be ideal for me. Pocket wise I think could be laid out differently or potentially even less pockets... I have no idea what I would even put in this many pockets! All that aside I think these will be great bibs for years to come. Loading... The fit and freedom is excellent, Breathability is unmatched and durability is 10/10. I will keep coming back and buying these bibs! My first set had a small issue with the plastic connector on the bib straps would shift, but my second pair this seems to have been fixed. I love the collections of quick access (flap ) pockets for quickly stowing gear, and the good number of zippered security pockets. Loading... Could not have been more happy with them. They're comfortable, very well designed (so many well placed pockets, love how the bibs come up to the chest and back instead of just straps), breathable... everything you'd want in a pair of ski bibs. I used them in every condition (deep japan powder, freezing cold days in the mountains of kazakhstan, wet west coast snow, warm bluebird days) without issue. Then in my second season the waterproofing on the ass of the pants seemed to evaporate. As i was so over the moon with the pants i tried everything to get them back to a better state. Trew support was helpful in providing suggestions, and following their advice i washed them with NikWax Tech wash, then used the direct spray to try and get a new DWR coating on it. It worked for a day in most areas that were experiencing wetting, except for the butt and i spent most of my season with a cold, wet ass. This season i once again used nikwax tech wash, plus nikwax tx-direct wash in, plus nikwax spray on, then used a similar product from grangers. Works for a day or two with minimal wetting, but then back to normal with the same issues. I've spent well over $150 trying to get these bibs usable again, but alas, I went out on the mountain today and after spending 20-30 seconds with my butt in the snow the bibs were completely soaked (picture attached). Afterwards i had to make the unfortunate… Loading...
