Form and Funk-tion

It used to be you had to choose between a jacket with modern styling or a jacket that would keep you dry, hold all your gear, and last longer than a season. We believe style and substance can go hand-in-hand, and the Powfunk Jacket’s smooth and irresistible blend of function and form is our manifesto. Featuring a longer freestyle fit, storage options for days, and our highly breathable, weatherproof, and durable PNW 3L fabric, the Powfunk brings more to the party than your average technical shell. In the words of Funkadelic, “If you got funk, you got style”.

Funktastic jacket!

Stoked on this jacket! I got plumly blue and love the muted colour combo. 6'2" and 150lbs and the medium is spot on. The new 3L PNW fabric feels lightweight but bomber and it breathes! My other Trew jacket which I still love is the Beast from ~5 years ago, and while they're similar, the Beast is heavier and I don't think I would ever wear it in the city or anywhere but on a mountain. Whereas with the Powfunk, its so stylin' and light-feeling that I've worn it bike commuting to keep the rain way and I would even wear it around town and be feelin' fresh (its probably the colour combo too!! the Beast had those super bright retro colours). I got it along with a Capow bib and I'm in love with the combination.

Looking forward to testing it out in some stormy conditions!

First time shell owner

I am absolutely loving my new PowFunk Jacket!

I went with the 'plumly blue' and the color is phenomenal - true to pictured photo. I used the measurement tool to find my size. I’m 6’2” 165lbs and the medium fits perfectly. I usually wear a long sleeve base layer plus a sweater or other light fleece and still have plenty of room to move. The zippers all feel super solid, and the overall construction is unmatched. First day out was a wet one - I was able to keep taking laps while my friends had to go in and dry out. Loved the follow up customer service as well.

Highly recommend!

Solid construction, great customer service

This has been a great jacket for me thus far.

I'm 5'6", ~170lbs, and I went with a size Small and it's a great fit. Slim fit, but I can still easily layer underneath as and still have all the articulation I need. Covers my butt though it is not long or baggy by any means. The zipper comes all the way almost to my nose, offering face protection during storms.

Feels bombproof and offers great storm protection from pow, wind, and freezing rain, etc. I've gone through all sorts of conditions with it and it has held up every step of the way. Also, the pit zips are big and are very efficient at dumping heat.

It even packs down surprisingly small for its construction, though it is definitely not on par to a true alpine shell when it comes to packability and weight. It takes up considerable space in the bottom of a backpack compared to other lightweight shells, but I don't think that is really the intention with this jacket anyhow. That being said, I think Trew finds a decent balance between bombproof and light/packable if you did want to use this as a backcountry shell option, leaning towards the bombproof end of things.

Lastly, the jacket that I originally was sent wound up having a defective main zipper. It started off by not sealing properly, to eventually unzipping from the bottom. This was a bummer, but Katherine from Trew Gear provided stellar customer service, was super helpful, and got me a new jacket in no time.I will update if I have any issues with the zipper on the new jacket, but so far so good. As bonus points, my old jacket with the defective zipper is being fixed and will be sold at a discounted price in their store instead of going to landfill.

All in all, great jacket that I've grown to love. I had been using the Powfunk bibs for a year and loved them so much I thought I'd buy a jacket this year too. Rad company with good customer service and some bad ass product.

Pow Funk #1

This my second powfunk jacket, they are built tough with lots of pockets.
The design and colors they offer suit my sense of style.
My first powfunk was 10yrs old, still is fine with just a little pilling on the high traffic areas.
Would highly recommend to all.
5’11” 200lbs XL Powfunk, fits nicely.
