Toray Dermizax® NX
Waterproof / Breathable Membrane

After years of product testing in brutal conditions, we’ve found Toray membranes to be the most dependable and durable waterproof membranes available. They’re able to retain their weatherproof characteristics even when stretched, stressed, and abused, season after season and wash after wash. Dermizax® NX is the latest evolution of their flagship membrane, and it achieves groundbreaking levels of breathability and stretch without compromising weather protection.

  • 20,000 mm waterproof
  • 40,000 g/m2 breathable
MAIN FABRIC
80D 3L

80D 3L is the main body fabric in our freeride line. It’s a silent workhorse fabric with mechanical stretch and an uncharacteristically soft, supple hand for a rugged hardshell.

  • 80x70 denier plain weave nylon face
  • 20 denier smooth knit back
DWR
Durable Water Repellent Coating

A high-quality DWR coating enhances the performance of the fabric by protecting the surface from dirt and oils. We only use DWR coatings based on the environmentally friendlier short-chain (C6) fluorine compounds, which won't degrade in the environment into PFOS and PFOA.

RECCO®
Rescue System

All of our hardshell garments now feature RECCO® reflectors, which will bounce back a directional signal to rescue teams equiped with RECCO® detectors. Reflectors are not a substitute for an avalanche beacon or good decision making.

Cohaesive®
Embedded Components

We use the Cohaesive® system because we're able to embedd our cord management system into the fabric of our garments. It's the cleanest, most advanced cord management solution available.

So glad I decided to pick up the PowFunk this year. I am 6'1" and purchased a large. Plenty of room for a lightweight base layer and the Kooshin jacket on those really cold days, or just a mid weight plus a down vest on any other day. The fabric has a decent amount of stretch, and provides a very nice freedom of movement. For several years I was buying pieces from KJUS which utilized the same Dermizax NX membrane and stretch. Unfortunately for me those cost almost 3x as much and always broke down within 20 days on the mountain. Once you find your way, you always go TREW.

I'm always looking for gear that out last my adventures. I am also brand loyal to gear that has proven it self in the environments that I subject them too. This new search began as a result of anoth company not offering the same abilities and functions in their gear that I was accustom too. I Puchased the Powfunk last season after speaking with a Trew representative my first impressed by the customer service, that convinced me to make the purchase, and I was not disappointed. The Powfunk has become my favorite shell. It's fully functional waterproof yet soft and flexible not ridged lik some goretex shells. It has plenty of room for mobility during winter action sports or just everyday use armed with the RECCO reflector as well makes this jacket very versitle to be use in any resort. You can't put on what you don't have, so buying gear that can do it all is the way to go and I definitely got my money's worth from Trew and the Powfunk. I will definitely be making purchases again in the future

I've a constant gear junkie and have been looking for that perfect resort/backcountry ski jacket for a while now. Being in the PNW I wanted to support a local company and give this jacket a try. First off the entire Trew experience is a great one. From the prompt and professional help from the helpdesk on sizing to the quick shipping and great packaging shopping at Trew is a pleasure. It really feels like a premium brand experience. The jacket itself is also amazing. Great pockets, great colorways and perfect function for resort or backcountry use. I really like the big wrist cuffs and pocket layout. The fabric is great and not crinkly and noise like Gore-Tex Pro can be. Only issue is sometimes I have trouble getting the hood to stay over my helmet. I was a little concerned with sizing and went with a Medium based off of help from customer service. I'm 5'9''/175lbs and it works pretty well for me. There are times it feels a little big and too newschool for me but when I'm on the mountain, layering and moving around I am grateful for the little bit of extra room. That being said I wasn't able to try a small so am not sure how that would have fit. I'm excited about the prospect of the Portland store opening soon and getting to try a few things on. Over this is an A+ jacket at a great price. Keep up the great work Trew!

An addition to my previous review. The other day I was getting real sendy in the trees and ended crashing into some and getting pined balled between to huge trees. After realizing I was good to send even harder I checked my Pow Funk for scrapes and hole. Well there were none!! This thing just keeps getting better!

OK SO I PULLED THE TRIGGER ON THIS JACKET, WITHOUT KNOWING REALLY ANYTHING ABOUT THIS COMPANY, OTHER THAN THE FEW JACKETS I HAVE SEEN IN JACKSON HOLE AND A FEW BUMPERS AT THE JANE. WHEN I GOT THE JACKET, I WAS ECSTATIC AT THE COLOR FIRST OF ALL. THE GREENISH YELLOW IS BANGGGGGGING. AND THE SUBTLE HINTS OF AQUA AROUND THE ZIPPERS IS ANOTHER VERY NICE TOUCH. I CAN NOT WAIT TO WEAR THIS THING OUT ON THE MOUNTAIN. ALSO, ANOTHER SMALL NOTE, THE PACKAGING THAT THIS THING CAME WITH WAS EXQUISITE!! REALLY NICLY DONE.... SO THE FIT. I AM 6'4'' 196 LBS AND THE LARGE FITS PERFECT. ARMS ARE EVEN LONG ENOUGH . THE MATERIAL SEEMS BOMB PROOF. NOT AS STIFF AS SOMEE OF MY GORE TEX PRO SHELLS AND I CAN NOT WAIT TO TRY IT OUT. THE HOOD STRINGS ARE COOL TOO ON HOW THEY WORK. CHECK OUT THE VIDEO ( NOT REALLY SURE WHAT THEY ARE CALLED) I AM SOOOOOO HAPPY THANKS TREW. YU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED IN THIS JACKET. I PROMISE.

This jacket is dope! After a long wait I finally received my Pow Funk jacket and I could not be happier with it. And absolutely worth the wait. I have been looking for jacket for a long time and had gone through 3 other ones until I decided that it was time to just get a trew jacket. No disappointments here!! The vents are wicked awesome! I also liked the fact that the jack is able to zip up to your chin when you have those cold gust trying to dampened your day, but not with the Pow Funk. Also I like the simplicity of the pockets it keeps everything organized and I am not looking like an idiot digging through all my shenanigans. Talking about looking like an idiot... well you do not with the pow funk, this jacket is varsetile in the sense that it is not just for the slopes. The jacket will become your go to jacket. It has the proper spacing for you to layer up and still feel free to jib around, but yet it is constructed great for you to go to the bar hopping afterwards without looking like a retard. The velcro works great when damp and being snowed on too which is a plus. The pit vents are awesome when you need to shed some heat. I can't think of anything else at the moment except for that if you are considering getting this jacket I say absolutely send it! You will not regret it. Or any piece of gear that Trew makes for that matter.

I bought this jacket for otherworldly exploration and have yet to be disappointed. The lower abdomen pockets extended to the top of the jacket allowing for storage of large items like supersonic capacitors or climbing skins. The shell provides protection against all environments and the vents provide extra breathability when needed. When overheating I found sticking my arms through the armpit vents and wearing the jacket like a batwing was not only comfortable but stylish. The outermost layer caused me a little concern when exploring a particularly rainy planet as it appeared to absorb the water. But, a few hours later, I was still dry underneath and had yet to halt on my interplanetary travels. Best regards from planet Zelnon, Joe. PS, the velcro on the cuffs is actually good and actually works in the snow.

The new colorways are SICK!!! I have been wearing TREW since it was manufactured in Canada and have seen the product progress. Every year it keeps getting better. The only problem is that everyone else knows about TREW now and I am not the only guy wearing the hottest gear on the mountain. Keep up the good work fellas!!! -Joe (spreading the TREWTH in AspenSnowmass and beyond)

I received my Pow Funk jacket and Eagle pants yesterday. I could not be happier! After a month-long search for a new ski jacket and pants, I went with TREW. The Pow Funk had everything I had been looking for in a ski shell: 3L fabric with a DWR coating, plenty of pockets in just the right places, (including a zippered pass pocket on the left arm), Cohaesive cord adjustments, and RECCO reflectors, all at a great price. This jacket also has a wonderful fit. There is plenty of room for layering without it feeling loose. Plus, TREW's colorways are fun! And isn't that what skiing is about? And just in case I needed to return the products, they sent a prepaid return label with my shipment for a no hassle return. How's that for customer service?
