Comfortable Jacket

Jacket has been great so far. Relaxed size is great for layering. Quality and jacket tech are great and the pocket shape and locations are well thought out.

I want to like it.

HI! I should know better by now, but they just don't make em how they used to. lol.

I want to like this jacket, i really do. But two key things are holding it back. First the simple stuff; no two way main zipper. Cmon, it is a little, but very important thing. Every jacket ought to have a two way zipper, always, no matter what. this is on me for assuming, but I hope every maker of outerwear makes this the law from here on out.

More importantly to me, is the sizing. This XXL jacket fits as a small XL or close to an L across the chest. Is it just me, or have outerwear manufacturers simply gone to a euro sizing scheme? It used to be, that if I ordered an XL, I was getting a big ass F**king coat, now... not so much. Never mind XXL. What is with that? I get that the main customer for this company is likely people that are, slim, shall we say? I am not. I am active and strong, but I also have a lot of meat on my bones. As I have gotten older, and a little less trim, jackets have gotten slimmer at a faster rate, and also shorter. Maybe it is just me, maybe it is because I wore SAGA nearly exclusively since 2009 (with the occasional volcom or RBA kit (RIP)) but it seems to me, if I order an XXL from anyone, it should nearly fall off of me. About the only things that fit as they should on this piece are the neck (kudos btw) and the sleeves.

I have had to layer up once so far this season since I received this jacket. tank, T, long sleeve, fleece: and i felt like I had no room…

TREW Gear

Hey Darris, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!

First, two-way zippers have been taken off of many jackets (at least in the center front zipper application) because they are notoriously finicky and are quick to break. Hopefully zipper technology can get to a better point where we can have our cake + eat it, too - aka have 2-way zippers that stay functional for the long haul - but at this point, that's just not the case.

Second, our sizing may be different then other brands out there. For the most part, we find that folks tend to have to size down in our gear when coming from other brands - but if you are coming from the more park-styled brands like Saga, you'll find everything to run smaller. This is why we always urge folks to use our size charts when shopping, since just going off of your 'normal size' in another brand can often leave you with the wrong size. Also, the Powfunk is specifically designed to offer s lim/long fit - whereas we have other jackets, like the Cosmic and the Capow, that have more room in the chest/abdomen. The Powfunk has a special place in the hearts of those who like the slimmer fit, but like you've found, it may not be the best choice for someone who is a but more built.

We hope this helps add some context to the pain-points you have with the jacket, and thank you again for sharing! We'll be on constant lookout for upgrades on the 2-way zipper front...

Very much worth the price tag. Quality material. Great shell jacket. Fit on the baggier side but as expected in the photos.

Stoked

I'm a 6'1 girl and got this jacket in a men's medium, it's awesome! Long enough in the waist and very long sleeves, perfect for keeping the snow out of the wrists. Colors are suhweet! Packs down decently in my Backcountry bag too when I'm on the way up.
