Tear the roof off the sucker.

Some people want style at the expense of substance. Others want pure function without a single aesthetic consideration. We want the funk. The PowFunk, to be more specific.

The PowFunk Jacket is just a little extra, and that’s what makes it so crucial in the clutch. It sits a little longer in the torso, has a few more pockets for snacks, and cares a little bit less about what technical ski and snowboard shells look like after they’re done checking all the nerd boxes. But there’s much more to the PowFunk than a bunch of posturing and spray.

An overachieving slacker, the PowFunk lays a foundation with our stormproof PNW3L three-ply fabric and fully taped construction, then builds on it with enough pockets, features, and ergonomic patterning to deliver the free-range function that most resort jackets can only dream about. What more can you ask for? Well, you can start by asking for the PowFunk. Then, ask for the world on a silver platter...

Worst jacket I've ever owned

I'll start with the one positive - good water resistance. The negatives - just about every other aspect of this jacket.

Fit - hits at the most uncomfortable spot just below the keister. When you sit it bunches up and is unbelievably uncomfortable. The slim fit is, well it's just too slim., it's restrictive. I'm not a big guy, 5'7" 150 pounds. It feels restrictive and overall exceedingly uncomfortable.

Fit-sleeve length. Unbelievable long sleeves that make the coat almost unwearable. The cuffs chafe your arms because you have to fasten them so tightly so the sleeves don't go over your hands. Then the sleeves bunch up and again - make the fit uncomfortable and restrictive.

Pockets - I was really excited about all the pockets, but because of the tight fit you might as well not have pockets. And the left breast pocket (over the heart) is the natural place to carry s cell phone but some strange mesh inner pocket makes it impossible to slip a phone in with ease. I finally took a scissors and ripped out the mess pocket so I could fit my cell phone (and it's the small iPhone).

Zipper - doesn't function. I took it to a seamstress to replace the zipper - she wanted $300. HA!

Hood - oh don't get me started on the hood! The cord lock doesn't work to secure the hood. What good is a jacket without a hood that stays on?

Vents - no mesh on the vents so it's a zipper to nowhere. I was wearing it one day and it got warm out so I had it tied around my waist. Went to zip my cellphone in securely and (because it was around my waist) I inadvertently unzipped one of the vents put my cellphone in and zipped it back up. Unknowingly just dropping my phone onto the ground and losing it. Admittedly this is kind of an odd mistake for me to make but I didn't realize I had unzipped the vent (not one of the 25 pockets) and also didn't realize the vents had no mesh. $1200 dollars and a new cell phone later, I'm hating this jacket even more.

I will never buy another jacket online or from Trew. I was excited to try the Trew brand, being an Oregonian I wanted to support a local company. What a waste of money and what a f****** waste of money.

Hey Mark, we're really sorry to hear this. It sounds like there are a few things going on -- incorrect jacket size and fit, as well as some warranty items on the zipper and hood. We are reaching out to you via email right now to find a solution, and hopefully we can get you in the right jacket for you. The Powfunk is a long fit, and it sounds like you may be more happy in our Cosmic Jacket. We also have a robust warranty program for our customers, so we can get this jacket all fixed up for you, as well. Chat more soon!

Durable, Functional, Stylish - All made to last

6'4" - 190lbs - Size Large

I wore my 2013 PowFunk all winter long for 6 winters (40 - 100+ days each season, mostly resort but some backcountry) until the zipper quit at the beginning of this season and I decided to buy the new version. 2013 version is still fully functional with the exception of a blown zipper - will probably get it fixed and keep using it thanks to bomber construction and timeless design.

Just received the new version and skied 2 full days in it and it feels like home! New PNW 3L fabric feels and looks great, pockets are super well thought out and the storm collar on this jacket is hands down the best I've seen (easy to zip up, amazing coverage, accommodates neck-warmer, helmet, etc.). I live and ski predominantly in Lake Louise, where it is super cold most of the time so I don't usually get a chance to properly assess the waterproof rating of any fabric until later in the season, but after skiing a storm the last couple of days and I can tell it is going to get the job done without any issue. Pair this baby with a Trewth Bib and layer properly and this jacket keeps the wind out and the warmth in - even just as a shell.

Fit notes: I am tall and skinny (noted above) and the large fits me flawlessly. Enough room for layers, sleeve length is enough to never ride up and the bottom of the jacket just covers my butt. I would not say it fits me "baggy", it fits me properly with full range of motion. If you have wide shoulders and/or are wider around the middle, I would definitely consider the XL. If you are similar in size to me and like it to look baggy, consider going XL as well.

All in all - incredible gear by these guys. I have my girlfriend and most of my friends in this gear now - I've seen a lot of it in action (Trewth Bib, Chariot Bib, Capow Bib, Cosmic Jacket, Hot Toddy Jacket) and the feedback is all 5 stars. First class customer service from the TREW team is the icing on the cake. These guys consistently deliver the goods!

Thanks, TREW!

Just got it

Haven’t had time to test it out on the slopes yet, but it seems like a very well-made jacket with a ton of pockets and storage space. I feel like I keep finding more pockets and features to this thing. Definitely a high-quality item. The size kind of threw me off. I’m about 5’10” 165 pounds. I usually wear a medium in most shirts and coats, so I ordered a medium. It was very large on me. I returned it for small. The small fits well, except the length and arms are still longer than my previous jacket.
